Virus and Spyware Removal

It seems that computer viruses can be found anywhere these days- on emails, websites, and even in software. How much does it cost your business in productivity when you cannot use a computer because of a virus? If you machine has been infected, we can help.

We recommend reinstalling Windows - it's the quickest and most effective way to remove an infection. If your computer will not start or you cannot backup your files, we can help back your computer up as well. Be sure to thoroughly scan the backed up files to reduce the likelihood of re-infecting your computer.

If you do not have your Windows installation disk, we can assist by cleaning the computer. This can be a lengthy process (we run multiple malware scans, and each scan can take a few hours), and we prefer to do it in our office. We offer rental computers so you can still work while we clean your computer.

Here are some tips we recommend to protect your PC:

• Ensure you are running Genuine Windows (not an unlicensed copy). Microsoft regularly issues updates to address security vulnerabilities, and having a licensed copy of Windows is the only way to get those updates. Be sure to install the security updates as well, as many exploits use previously patched vulnerabilities.
• Regularly update the other programs installed on your computer. Many exploits take advantage of flaws in programs that have already been addressed by the software vendor.
• Protect your computer with anti-malware software, and perform scans regularly. There are many freely available anti-virus scanners for home use, and most of those vendors offer paid-for licensing options for business use.
• If you are unsure whether or not a file may be infected, scan it with an anti-virus program before running it.
