The Customer’s Challenge

John Zink Hamworthy Combustion, after maintaining a primary Vault Professional server with 9 worldwide replicated servers including 5 separate Vault Databases, decided to consolidate all Vaults into one primary GLOBAL vault, and then re-establish replication around the world. The task would require the standardization of workflows and product Lifecycle management processes that would be used by all business groups around the world.

The Project Goals

Our project consisted of one main goal:

  • Through the Vault Consolidation project, the goal was to simplify the management of their engineering data and information for easier access and sharing through the entire worldwide John Zink engineering community.

The Solution

John Zink engaged Team D3 to:

  • Review current documentation for all vaults including file structure, securities, lifecycles, categories, mappings, current hardware & network. Evaluate workflow requirements and develop a simple lifecycle and a revision scheme that all existing users of Vault can use.
  • Document implementation and training requirements.
  • Develop and document consolidation and data update process, including John Zink Hamworthy Combustion’s resource requirements.

The Business Outcome

Through engagement with Team D3 professional services, John Zink Hamworthy Combustion was able to consolidate their 5 individual vaults into one primary Global Vault with replicated access around the world. In so doing, they were able to standardize their file structure, securities, lifecycles, categories, mappings, and workflows giving them a uniform engineering process across all business groups.

Conclusion

“We rely on Team D3’s expertise in Autodesk Vault Professional to keep our engineering data secure, controlled, and accessible globally.”
